WEC Savvy Tournament & Gymkhana
Rules and Guidelines

The sand ring will be split down the middle with one gate used for the Savvy Tournament and the other used for access to the play area.

The Savvy Tournament is open to anyone with proper natural horsemanship equipment (pressure knotted halter, multi-length line(s), and stick with string) and horse. Ground games and mounted games will be open to all levels; points are assessed by level of savvy displayed. One horse on course at a time. Sample Savvy Events and assessment criteria are listed and described on the website http://www.wecevents.org

The other side will be set up for play and warm-up.

Riding attire is informal. Hard-hats (for anyone 18 years old or younger) and boots are required; beyond that is your choice.

One Savvy Tournament Course will be ‘judged’ by a volunteer whose job it is to be supportive, encouraging, and to let you know when you have accomplished the task or must move on. We encourage parents and instructors who bring participants to volunteer – we will tell you and show you what it takes to accomplish a task; all you have to do is record it.

Each horse must have a negative Coggin’s test to be shown to hosts before participation. Players must pay $25 (for non WEC members; $10 for WEC members) for participation. You must pay an additional $5 each time you get ‘judged’ on a Savvy Tournament Course. If you are a WEC member for 2007, you must bring your card with you to show to hosts.
